I see you are making 345hp @ 7000 (crank hp) w/o NOS. I have a few questions:
#1 - What PSI was that made at?
#2 - How much boost will you be running after motor break-in?
#3 - What are your torque #'s?
#4 - How much HP do you anticipate to make at full boost(4th gear pull to redline)?
Sorry about all the questions, have a bud who looks ready to take his JRSC hybrid to the next level. TIA

Bigkat:
#1 On the dyno the car was running at about 14lbs of boost
#2 The car is currently hitting 16-17lbs of boost with the same pulley that was used on the engine dyno. (I wanna say it's 3.2", and I do have his stepper pulley)
#3 Not sure. Although I think it peaks at like 220ft lbs, I have not had the car on a chassis dyno since the rebuild... Soon though. Larry is insistent that I learn to tune without the aid of a dyno, and he has been talking me through the process. I am a slow learner.
#4 Honestly, I don't know. I would like to say 400+whp with the aid of juice, but I am not sure. Larry seems to feel that it will be achievable.
Hope this helps out.
Anything else?

11psiGSR,
I was curious. I've heard larry say before that it's not necessary to strengthen the motor with his reworking of the JRSC. Did you add new pistons/rods for your own peace of mind or was it necessitated by your nitrous setup?

It was necessary because of damage done to stock components under severe detonation.
That and I wanted to take the build to the next level.

Last question........you are running the 9.2-1 Roller-Wave Pistons? I think my bud wants to run with a little higher comp., since he is installing a Haltech E6K in a few months........he was talking about running 10.1. JE pistons. What do you think? Note: He won't be running over 20 shot of NOS.

Tuning w/out the dyno??
There's something of big interest.
How are you doing this? What measurements, what are you playing w/??? ETC.
I would like to know... this would help me and others a lot!
Thanx,
Pete

Bigkat: Yes I am running Larry's "Roller-Wave" pistons, I believe my CR is 9.5:1. Your friend should check into Larry's pistons and Rods... They are VERY affordable.
Pest: Yes, Larry insists that the best way to tune a car is by learning. He has begun walking me through fuel/timing adjustments, by having 2 people in the car, one to drive the other to monitor all the gauges. He want's the owners of his motors to really understand what is going on and not be dependant on someone else, and their dyno. With the J&S in the car, it prevents any possibilities of damage, so if you are off a bit, it does not do any damage...
Larry is certainly a first class guy. He has spent countless hours on the phone with me, helping with anything that has come up. I am by no means an expert, more like a novice, but Larry has been patient and understanding, and has always been there to help.
Larry and ENDYN are a gift to the import scene from above.

Just an observation...but this Larry guy seems real hesitant against Dyno's and real mechanics/professionals looking at his work. Now the knee jerk answer is that he has secrets, but if you look at every post on by somebody on here, they will give not give you a dyno plot. Yeah we have all seen the video of the guy in the front seat of a car, but there is no numbers to back it. Tuning by ear was a specialty guys in back in the 60 could do...we are in 2001 and everything is essentially controlled by electronics not a carburator jet. If these cars are so fast, why no mag tests? Why no dyno plots?
Why am I so apprehensive...well we are quick to beat on JR for their blower systems because the dyno plots dont match the hype of a salesman. People hype on here, directing people to invest a additional $1800+ into a system(nobody knows, becuase nobody has real numbers)with out real numbers to back it up.
I know I am going to be killed for going against the all praise larry crowd, but somebody post some real world numbers (dyno, quartermile, 0-150-0) and I think many people will stop questioning endyne and myth of 15lbs of boost with cooler discharge temps, traction control, and special fuel management.

well, larry likes dynos to an extent, but what do those numbers tell you? not much as far as acceleration is concerned. as far as 1/4 mile times, they are around. Larry was doing LOW 11's a long time ago in the civic, and there is another civic in the caymans running low-mid 12's, and more. again, dyno numbers do not equal real world performance. a better measure of performance is on the road, either by timing time to RPM nder load (aka Delta RPM/Delta t). tuning is NOT a black art as most people would have you believe, and is in some ways easier with the electronics than without. do some more reading and see why it is that you belive the things that you do when it comes to engines, and do some experimenting yourself. Larry is doing a LOT of people favors by forcing them to learn how to do it, and do it right.
